About Ali Hancorn

Ali Hancorn is a freelance trumpet player and tutor based in London and the South East of England. Ali currently studies at postgraduate level at the Royal Academy of Music, having completed his undergraduate degree at Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance, graduating with first class hons.

Throughout his time at the Royal academy, Ali has occupied principal positions Symphony Orchestras, Brass Ensembles, Baroque Orchestras, Big Bands, Jazz orchestras and the Pit bands. In addition, Ali has recieved tuition and coaching from some of Europe's most prestigious trumpeters as Mark David, Paul Beniston, Philippe Schwarts, Jason Evans, Paul Mayes and Jeroen Berwaerts.  

Ali works regularly in London and in the provinces in professional engagements ranging from large scale orchestral projects to musical theatre, and early chamber music to high profile corporate functions. His recent commercial work has taken him across the UK and internationally to play at venues including Disneyland Paris, Kensington Palace, The Royal Ascot, Glyndebourne Opera House, Cadogan Hall, Shakespeare's Globe Theatre, the National Exhibition Centre, Grosvenor House and Evolution London.

Ali is also an experienced military musician, having held a principal cornet position in the Band of the Royal Yeomanry (2021-22). He has also performed with the prestigious 'London Fanfare Trumpets' in a recent high profile performance at the Royal Albert Hall for the 2022 British Fashion Awards, with attendees such as Stormzy, Rita Ora and Naomi Campbell.

Ali is an experienced orchestral musician, having played in early music festivals with the Baroque Collective (led by Alison Bury of the OAE), large scale symphonies with the London City Orchestra, Ernest Read Symphony Orchestra, University of London Symphony Orchestra and Cavatina Orchestra. He. has also recently been seen playing with the Fulltone Orchestra in their Devizes 2022 'Fulltone Festival'.

In addition to his orchestral playing, Ali has performed with The English Jazz Orchestra and Big Smoke Brass, as well as holding principal seats in the Royal Greenwich Brass Band and Lewes Big Band. Ali is also a core member of the Meantime Collective, a newly formed brass chamber group based in London comprising of Trinity Laban's top brass players. Ali is also a proficient pianist, passing his grade 8 with distinction at the age of 16, the same age he won Brighton's Springboard Piano competition.
